St Margaret Clitherow's Church was built in 1972/3 to serve the Catholic community of Upper Wharfedale and to cater for the visitors who come to this beautiful area in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Rt. Rev. W. G. Wheeler D.D.M.A. Bishop of Leeds, conducted the Solemn Dedication on 2 October 1973.
This was the first Church in the Diocese to be dedicated to St Margaret, who had only been canonised three years previously, on 26 October 1970.
For those people having a holiday in the Grassington area, Burnsall and Appletreewick,Upper Wharfedale and Littondale, this is the most convenient Church for Sunday Mass.
This church has a special relationship with Bukumbi parish in Tanzania. From time to time fund-raising events are held for specific projects at Bukumbi.
