The American National Insurance Company
The American National Insurance Tower (Moody Plaza) is Galveston's Tallest building and only Skyscraper. It houses the international headquarters of the Galveston-Based American National Insurance Company. American National Insurance is the parent company of American National Property and Casualty Co, American National General, Garden-State Life Insurance, and Standard Insurance, all of which are wholly owned subsidiaries of American National Insurance. American National is traded on NASDQ under the symbol ANAT. The Moody Foundation and Moody Trust maintain control of about 62% of American National stock. Members of the Moody Family control the rest, with only a small amount of stock being held by outside investors.
