The Galveston County Daily News
The Galveston County Daily News is the oldest newspaper in Texas. It was founded as The Galveston Daily News on April 11, 1842, and was the first newspaper in the United States to have a building built solely for use as a newspaper plant (Read the History of the Daily News at The Galveston County Daily News Website). In November of 1993 The Galveston Daily News changed its name to The Galveston County Daily News. Despite the name change it is still based and published in Galveston.
