Ball High School
The old wing of Galveston's Ball High School.
The new wing of Galveston's Ball High School. The construction of this wing allowed Ball HS's northern campus (1 block away) to be turned into an elementary, thus combining Ball North and Ball South under one roof for the first time in decades. Ball High School was the first public high in the State of Texas. The Original Campus near downtown, with its various domes (it looked more like a state capital building than a HS) was torn down earlier this century. Ball HS is named after 19th century Galveston businessman George Ball.
