About United States National Bank:
The oldest bank in Galveston and one of the four oldest active banks in Texas, The United States National Bank was established in 1874 as the Island City Savings Bank. USNB has around 140 million dollars in deposit assets and more than $1.7 billion in trust assets. Kempner Family of Galveston purchased a struggling savings bank by the name of Island City Savings and renamed it United States National Bank. USNB was the last bank chartered using the words United States in its name. That same year congress passed legislation prohibiting banks from using the words United States in their name. Today the United States National Bank of Galveston is one of only two banks remaining, using that name.

USNB is a member of Cullen/Frost Bankers Inc, the largest bank holding company based in the State of Texas.
