FoxPro had a short but glorious life. Released in 1989 as an alternative to dBase III+, it was the 3rd generation in a series of products written by Dave Fulton, a professor at Bowling Green State University. His first two creations (FoxBASE and FoxBASE+) were written to "embrace and extend" <g> the technology incorporated within Ashton-Tate's dBase product. They succeeded beyond everyone's wildest dreams. Fox software didn't just push dBase to the limits, it redefined those limits, and it left all other xBase programs in the dust. The following timeline shows the basic milestones in FoxPro's rise to the top. |
