CARSON, JAMES M., Corporal, Company B. Mustered September 24, 1861. Was teacher of Blaney School of Sugar Creek Township, Armstrong County. All of his boys who attended his school followed his muster. While in Camp Orr, Kittanning, Armstrong County, the girl students made a US flag for the Company. The flag was taken to Camp Orr by a large group of family, friends, and neighbors and entrusted to CARSON. Died June 13, 1862 of Typhoid at White House Landing, Virginia and buried at Seven Pines National Cemetery #D422. Flag was passed to Conrad PETSINGER.
CARSON, WILLIAM, Private, Company G. Mustered age 19, January 10, 1862 through June 25, 1865. Captured in Plymouth, North Carolina April 20, 1864, Andersonville Code 40383. Also imprisoned in Florence, South Carolina until December 4, 1864. Sent to Charleston, South Carolina, paroled and taken to Annapolis, Maryland. Hospitalized during the Christmas and New Years holidays with heart disease and chronic diarrhea and was furloughed for 30 days in February 1865 rejoining the regiment at Roanoke Island May 1865. Honorably discharged June 25, 1865 at New Bern, North Carolina.

COCHRAN, JOHN M., Captain, Company C. Mustered age 22 September 16, 1861 - January 14, 1863. At Battle of Fair Oaks/Seven Pines, Virginia, although sick and excused from duty, he rallied a number of men who were absent when the Regiment went to support the Pickets, and formed them to the left of Casey's Redoubt. He remained there until he was so severely wounded that he had to be assisted from the field. He and other officer called on some and introduced themselves as Colonel Maxwell and Captain Mackey. The word go back to Colonel Maxwell and he was court martialed. He had to leave the Regiment and resigned from the Army.
COCHRAN, THOMAS A., Captain, Company C. Mustered September 6, 1861 - June 25, 1865. Promotions to 1st Sergeant at organization of the company; to 2nd Lt. July 7, 1862; to 1st Lt. January 14, 1863; to Captain July 1, 1863. Commanded the Regiment stationed on Roanoke Island, North Carolina after April 20, 1864.
COCHRAN, WILLIAM W., Private, Company C. Mustered age 18 June 10, 1863. Younder brother of Captain John M. and George W. Cochran. During the Peninsula Campaign Battle for Williamsburg, Virginia, was sent forward by Major Gazzam to reconnoiter along with B. H. Scott. They discovered an officer's horse, fully caparisoned, recently deserted by its rider, standing a short distance in front of Fort Magruder. While Cochran stood guard, Scott captured the horse. This was the first regimental trophy. Had it not been for this action, the regiment would have been the first into the fort. Died in Plymouth, North Carolina January 6, 1864 of chronic diarrhea and was buried at New Bern National Cemetery, North Carolina Pl 7#1205.

CROOP, WILLIAM H., Private, Company I. Mustered December 16, 1861. Listed as having deserted while at Plymouth, North Carolina stopping with a farmer about 3 miles up the Roanoke River. The farmer tried to get rid of him, finally reported Croop to Federal authorities. First Sergeant McCoy took a file of men an brought him to camp; was court-martialed and sentenced to Dry Tortugas. Major Gazzam, president of the board, wanted him shot, but Lt. Laughlin, Company A, objected. When Plymouth was under attack, was offered a pardon if he would join the Company at the breastworks, but he refused. Captured in Plymouth, North Carolina April 20, 1864. Died August 3, 1864, and buried in Andersonville Code 14682
