Baker

Dr. John Baker (Ancestor)

Dr. John and Elizabeth Baker of Allegheny Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania had seven children (3 Sons and 4 Daughters). Prior to his death, Dr. John Baker drafted his last will and testament.

A.  Daniel Baker

Son Daniel Baker in the will of his father Dr. John Baker received forty three pounds two shillings and six pence.

B.  John Baker

Son John Baker in the will of his father Dr. John Baker received twenty nine pounds two shillings and six pence. In addition, John Baker along with "My trusty and beloved friend Joseph Yingling" were the sole executors of the last will and testament of Dr. John Baker. It appears that John Baker may have married his niece Mary Yingling (daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Baker) Yingling), however, this cannot yet be confirmed. Mary Yingling was born November 3, 1808 when her father Joseph Yingling was 31 years old and her mother Elizabeth (Baker) Yingling was 25 years old. Mary (Yingling) Baker died at the age of 83 in 1891. There were three children born to John and Mary (Yingling) Baker (2 sons and 1 daughter).

(a) Daniel Baker

(b) William Baker

(c) Lydiann Baker

Daughter Lydiann Baker was born January 1836 when her mother Mary (Yingling) Baker was 27 years old. There is a gravemarker in West Freedom Cemetery for Lydiann Baker who was born in January 1836 and died October 8, 1842 at the age of 6 years and 9 months. The grave marker indicates that Lydiann Baker was the daughter of John and Mary [Yingling] Baker. Lydiann Baker was not mentioned within "The Yingling Genealogy".

C. Catharine Baker

Daughter Catharine Baker in the will of her father received seventy seven pounds ten shillings.

D. Mary Baker

Daughter Mary Baker in the will of her father received forty pounds.

E. William Baker

Son William Baker in the will of his father received twenty two pounds two shillings and six pence. It is apparent that William Baker travelled with his sister Elizabeth (Baker) Yingling and her husband Joseph Yingling to Carroll County, Maryland in 1802. During this trip, William Baker met and later married Joseph Yingling's sister Louisa Yingling.

F. Barbara Baker

Daughter Barbara Baker in the will of her father received seventy seven pounds ten shillings.

G. Elizabeth Baker (Ancestor)

Daughter Elizabeth Baker was born April 14, 1783 most likely in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. On November 10, 1801 at the age of 17, Elizabeth Baker married Joseph Yingling who was himself 25 years old having been born December 17, 1776. Elizabeth (Baker) Yingling and husband Joseph Yingling travelled to Carroll County, Maryland in 1802 (the year following their marriage) [presumably to visit the Yingling family if not to introduce Elizabeth (Baker) Yingling to the other Yingling family members]. It is apparent that during this trip, William Baker (brother of Elizabeth (Baker) Yingling met and later married Joseph Yingling's sister Louisa Yingling. In 1805, Dr. John Baker left Elizabeth (Baker) Yingling in his last will and testament the sum of thirty pounds three shillings.
