Lydia Adams Davis and Katherine Archer tour extensively as the Eco Duo or Rockin' Pajamas performing children's songs, original country/folk, rockabilly and puppetry for family audiences. Lydia incorporates American Sign Language and improvises songs and stories on the spot.
Lydia accompanies herself on guitar and dulcimer. Katherine Archer joins Lydia's rich voice with delicate harmonies and on her guitar, provides soaring melodic lead lines. During the puppet routines and sign language, Katherine adds to the fun with great sound effects and her unique blend of musical styles.
With a variety of programs and performance skills to draw from, Lydia and Katherine are naturals at leading workshops. Samples of songwriting collaborations with children and their adult friends can be heard on Lydia's albums.
Katherine Archer came to the Hudson Valley by way of southern California, by way of Virginia, where she was born and raised. With her she brings the insight and dreams of a traveler, as well as the simplicity and non-pretentiousness of a small town gal. Her music and performance are personal, powerful, and best of all, FUN!! Let's not take ourselves too seriously, eh?
In the five years Katherine has been in the Hudson Valley, she has become a favorite in the coffeehouse scene, opening shows for the likes of John Gorka, Loudon Wainwright III, and Bill Morrissey. In 1994, she sailed on the sloop "Clearwater" as part of the musical crew, appearing in a grand finale concert with Pete Seeger and the Paul Winter Consort. She has received an "In Tune" award as well as an "In Tune" Grammy presented by the Times Herald Record. She captured first prize in the Rhythm and News songwriting contest, competing with 140 of the Hudson Valley's finest musicians.
Katherine is a fine guitarist; she composes and plays all the guitar parts on her recordings. She is also using her skills composing songs and instrumental music for film and video.
