Welcome to the begining of the 21st century AD. It's an amazing time. As we approach the start of the 21st century and the third millenium, we find that we enjoy

• record life spans,
• the defeat of many diseases,
• much reduced heavy, manual labor, and
• lots of leisure time.

Many of us now use this time to whine about the very things that made it possible. Sadly, the typical American acquires most of his or her “science” knowledge from TV and movie stars, politicians, and cartoon characters. The result is a lot of bad, dangerous, and sometimes funny science.
