American
bison, 1994
As I drove out of the Badlands (formally, Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Unit), a herd of about 30 bison grazed and walked across the dirt road which I would have to traverse. This one rested. Nikon FM, Nikkor-Q 135mm/2.8, Kodachrome 64.
Mule deer, 1994.
I drove over a hill and spotted this deer in the brush near the bottom. So as not to spook it, I shut off my car and let it roll until I came eye to eye with it. The creature stood still for only a few seconds before it and its companion took off into the tall grass. Nikon FM, Nikkor-Q 135mm/2.8, Ektachrome 100.
