Woodson's 1957 Christmas Card

Star light, Star bright,
First star I've seen tonight.

Shepherds and peasants
In terrestrial friction
Have, long since, suspected
Much science is fiction;
Having known Dog-star, Taurus,
Scorpio, Great Bear and Sickle
They know man's inventions
Can be monstrously fickle.

For the beep-beep of cycles
Is prophetic of trouble
Between heavenly host
And plastic bubble.
... which proves to our heart
How fortunate we are
SOME ONE else was FIRST
To launch a MAN IN A STAR.
